- All prices are in Nigerian naira (₦) and apply to the unit shown beside each item.
- Units differ by item. Rice is listed by 50kg bag, 25kg bag, paint (4.15kg) and derica (0.75kg). Beans are listed by paint (3.3kg) and derica (0.65kg). Garri is per paint (2.6kg). Compare prices only within the same unit.
- “Change vs Aug” is the month-on-month change between August 2026 and September 2026.
- “Change vs Dec 2025” is the change since the December 2025 base month. This is a change in the average price of the tracked items. It is not an official consumer price index (CPI) figure.
- A dash (—) means no price was reported.

Not every market reports every item every month. A dash means no September price was reported for that market. Prices are monthly averages of the weekly observations available.
What the data shows: Market differences can be large. For tomatoes, the lowest reported average was ₦775 per kg (Agbalata) and the highest ₦2,375 (Mile 12). Onions were cheapest at Mile 12 (₦700) and dearest at Agege (₦1,725). Yam ranged from ₦2,050 (Agege) to ₦3,000 (Ajah) per medium tuber. Buyers and sellers who can reach more than one market may find meaningful differences worth comparing after transport costs.
The ten markets covered are Mushin, Mile 12, Ile-Epo, Agege, Sabo, Iddo/Oyingbo, Agbalata, Ajah, Fresh Food Hub (Mushin) and Epe.
Methodology
- Source: Farm Agric Price Tracker market price survey of Lagos food markets.
- Frequency: Prices are recorded weekly in each market, and the monthly figure is the average of the weekly averages for that month.
- Markets: Ten Lagos markets (listed above). The monthly Lagos figure averages the markets that reported each item.
- Items and units: 29 items (a food item can appear in more than one unit, for example rice by bag, paint and derica).
- Base month: December 2025.
- Percentage change: (later price ÷ earlier price − 1) × 100.
- Currency: Nigerian naira, nominal (not adjusted for general inflation).
Farm Agric: before publishing, please confirm and add who collects the prices, how they are collected (for example enumerator visits or trader phone checks), and the number of price observations per item, as this is what other sites look for when deciding whether to cite a dataset.
Limitations
- Prices are averages across reporting markets and will not match any single trader’s price.
- Not every market reports every item each week. Averages from markets with fewer reports are less certain.
- Quality, grade and brand can differ between sellers and markets and are not separately priced.
- The “change vs December 2025” column compares tracked item prices. It is not an official inflation rate, and it should not be quoted as CPI inflation.
- Prices are nominal and do not adjust for general inflation or exchange rates.
- Figures may be revised if late or corrected reports are received.
Data corrections
One value in the working data was corrected before publication. The February 2026 average for Imported Rice (Long Grain), 50kg, was recorded as ₦52,250. The four weekly averages for that month (₦59,875, ₦62,000, ₦62,250 and ₦62,250) average ₦61,594, which is also consistent with the month-on-month changes on either side of it, so ₦61,594 is used here. Eko Rice has no September 2026 price in the source data.
